Services & What We Offer
We offer three core tests: DEXA body composition scans, VO2 Max testing, and Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing. You can book them individually or as a combo package. We also offer a digital strength assessment. Visit our Services page for details.
A DEXA scan gives you a detailed body composition analysis including body fat percentage, lean muscle mass, bone mineral density, visceral fat, and more — broken down region by region. You can view a sample report here.
Yes. Every DEXA scan includes bone mineral density data for each body region. It will show where you fall in terms of normal, osteopenia, or osteoporosis — it’s all included regardless of which scan option you book.
The Beginner Extended includes the full body scan plus a consultation where we provide personalized suggestions and help you set goals. The Basic scan gives you the scan and report without the extended consultation.
Vancouver uses an assault bike. Toronto offers treadmill testing. Both use the VO2 Master analyzer and are equally accurate — though cyclists may score slightly higher on the bike, and runners on the treadmill.
Yes! Plan for about a 1-hour appointment. You can also split them across separate visits.
We use the Hologic Horizon W — a modern, medical-grade DEXA scanner. The scan itself takes about 3–6 minutes.
Our mission is to make advanced health tracking accessible to everyone. We keep prices low and focus on volume so more people can benefit.
No referral needed. Anyone can book directly through our website.
Booking & Appointments
Book online at bodystats.ca/appointments. Select your test, date, and time. Bookings must be made at least 2 hours in advance.
A standalone DEXA scan takes about 10–15 minutes (the scan itself is only 3–6 min). VO2 Max and RMR tests are about 15–20 min each. All three together take about 1 hour.
Generally no. We recommend booking online to secure your preferred slot.
Use the reschedule link in your confirmation email. We have a 72-hour cancellation/reschedule policy. Need help? Email hello@bodystats.ca.
Each person needs their own appointment. Book consecutive slots, or use our back-to-back DEXA option for pairs. We also offer group rates.

No, we do not offer direct billing with insurance providers at this time.
Preparing for Your Appointment
Shorts and a t-shirt are ideal. Avoid metal jewelry, zippers, and heavy belts. For VO2 Max testing, wear athletic shoes and workout clothes.
We suggest not eating for about 2–3 hours before your scan. For the RMR test, fasting is more important as food can inflate the result. Water is fine.
That’s fine! Just wear the same items every time you scan so your results are comparable. Metal shows up as bone, but consistency across visits keeps your tracking accurate.
The scan won’t damage your device. Any metal may slightly impact bone density readings, but it’s not dangerous. Keep it consistent across scans.
Our scanner accommodates most body types, including larger individuals (300+ lbs). Message us if you have specific concerns.
We recommend waiting 7–14 days after a CT scan or MRI before getting your DEXA.
For body composition, 2–3 months is a good interval. For VO2 Max retesting after a training block, about 6 months.
Results & Reports
Results are emailed within minutes. Each test (DEXA, VO2 Max, RMR) is sent as a separate email.
Check spam, junk, and promotions folders. If not there, DM us on Instagram or email hello@bodystats.ca — we’ll resend right away.
Fitness trackers estimate VO2 Max using heart rate algorithms, which can be significantly off. Our test directly measures oxygen consumption and is far more accurate. The good news: consistent zone 2 cardio 4× per week can improve it substantially.
Contact us with the correction and we’ll update and reissue your report.
Yes — email us and we’ll send the raw Hologic PDF alongside our BodyStats report.
Absolutely. Send us your name and approximate appointment date and we’ll email a fresh copy.
Safety & Health
Extremely little — about 1/10th of a chest X-ray, roughly the same as a short-haul plane flight. Well below any threshold associated with health risk.
No. Hologic recommends not getting scanned during pregnancy. Please reschedule for after.
Yes. No additional risks or protocols for breastfeeding mothers.
Certain medications can affect your ability to reach true VO2 Max. We recommend consulting your physician before booking.
