What you get

LT1

Aerobic threshold

The effort where lactate first starts to rise. Below it is your easy, all-day zone.

LT2

Lactate threshold

The hardest effort you can hold for a long time before lactate builds up quickly.

Zones

5 training zones

Heart rate and power for each zone, from your own blood lactate.

How the test works

Warm up

You start easy on the bike while we set up and explain each step.

Stages

The effort goes up in stages. At each one we take a small drop of blood from your earlobe.

Your curve

We plot lactate against effort, mark your thresholds and send the results to your dashboard.

Questions

Can I book it now?

Lactate testing is in beta at BodyStats Fraser. Contact us to ask about a spot.

Does it hurt?

We take a small drop of blood from your earlobe at each stage. Most people barely notice it.

How is it different from a VO₂ max test?

VO₂ max measures the oxygen you use, from your breath, up to your maximum. Lactate testing measures blood lactate at each stage, which shows how your body handles rising effort.

Where do my results go?

To your BodyStats dashboard, next to your DEXA, VO₂ max and RMR results.
